I recently installed the quick release plate in my 2006 Malibu Wakesetter 23LSV. I attached it to the bump-out on the stringer where the engine mount is.
I used:
- Stainless Steel #8 bolts 3/4″
- Stainless Steel fender washers
- Stainless Steel nylon lock-nuts
- loc-tite
- 2 part epoxy
- Silicone caulk
- Right angle drill
- Shortened drill bits (used a drill doctor to cut them down)
I drilled custom holes in further on the bracket to match up with the bump-out. I bored the holes into the stringer a bit bigger than necessary and coated the holes with 2-part epoxy. I spread a thin layer of silicone caulk on the back side of the plate, and then bolted it in place using loc-tite and fender washers on the outside to increase rigidity of the plate.
The results are great! With this simple plate I can unsnap and snap the heater into place in minutes. I use a zip-tie to keep the lever in place on the removable plate just for peace of mind.
