How Xtreme Industrial Heaters Work
Xtreme Heaters are engineered to keep your equipment above freezing temperatures, ensuring the safety and reliability of critical systems. Your industrial heater has a fixed thermostat that activates at 50F (+/-3) and turns off at 65F (+/-3). There are no adjustments to make. Just apply power and it’s ready to work.
Automatic Operation:
When you first plug in the heater, a short self-test will run. The LED on the back will blink during the test and the fan will run. **Note**: If the heater is already cold (below 40 degrees) when plugged in, it will skip the self-test and start heating immediately. The heater activates automatically at 50°F (+/-3°F) and turns off at 65°F (+/-3°F), maintaining a safe temperature range and buffer without excessive energy consumption. The LED on the back of the heater always shows the state of the heater with the following colors:
- Red: The heater is in Heating mode, which means the heating element and fan are on.
- Green: The heater is in Standby mode, ready for the temperature to drop to 50 degrees
- Amber: When the temperature of the incoming air reaches 65 degrees, the heater enters Cool-down mode for
10 minutes to evacuate residual heat from the element from the case. - Note: If the heater is already cold when plugged in, it will skip the self-test and go directly into heating mode,
skipping the self-test.
General Installation Tips
- Location Selection: Choose a location that allows for the best circulation and heat distribution.
- The thermostat is on the back plate of the heater. Warm air circulation must reach the thermostat for the heater
to be able to sense that the off temperature has been reached. - Mounting Orientation: The heater can be mounted in any orientation (upright, sideways, or upside down) to
accommodate space constraints and ensure effective heat circulation. - Electrical Connection: Ensure the heater is connected to a reliable power source. If hardwiring is preferred,
consult a qualified electrician to follow safety standards. Cutting the plug off the heater for the purpose of hard
wiring does not void your warranty. - Verify that the electrical circuit and wiring are adequate for the heater size chosen.
Maintenance and Testing
Xtreme Heaters do not require regular maintenance but should be tested periodically to verify proper operation. Test the heater at the beginning of each cold season. Use refrigerant spray on the thermostat to simulate freezing conditions or place the heater in a freezer for at least an hour, then plug it in immediately upon removal.
- Visual Inspection: Regularly inspect the heater and its power cord for signs of wear or damage. Replace any
damaged components promptly. - Cleaning: Keep the heater free from dust and debris to maintain efficient operation. Ensure the heater is
unplugged before cleaning.
Troubleshooting
- Heater Not Activating: Ensure the power source is active and the outlet is functioning. Test the heater in a known
cold environment, such as a freezer, to verify activation. If using a freezer to test the heater, leave it in for 60
minutes to be sure the heater has acclimated to the cold environment. - Inadequate Heating: Check for obstructions to airflow and ensure the compartment is adequately sealed to
retain heat. - LED Indicators Not Functioning: Inspect the power connection and ensure the heater is receiving power. If the
issue persists, contact customer support. - Heater cycles on/off too frequently: Thermostat obstructed or poor air circulation.
