Xtreme Heaters was founded in 2004 with a mission to make the best freeze protection device available.  From the small niche market that we originally created the product for (boating), our heaters soon found homes in RV’s, campers, well houses, outdoor valve enclosures, greenhouses, utility trucks, compressor enclosures, cars, mining and construction equipment and even military vehicles and ships.  There is simply no better freeze protection product on the market that is as refined, heavily tested and validated through customer experience.

The Whole Story of Xtreme Heaters
Xtreme Heaters started as a simple idea born from a love of the water and family time. After finally buying our first big boat, we spent every weekend we could at the lake, enjoying the freedom and peace it brought us. It was during one Thanksgiving break that the vision really took shape. We were out on the lake in those crisp fall mornings, bundled up, sipping coffee, watching the sunrise, and soaking in the quiet sounds of ducks and waves in the background. It felt like the perfect escape in an otherwise busy world.

But reality hit each time we had to winterize and de-winterize the boat just to get a few spontaneous trips in through the season. We did it three times that year alone—it was exhausting, impractical, and took the fun right out of it. After trying everything from unsafe personal heaters to DIY setups, it became clear that there had to be a safer, simpler way to keep the boat ready for those special moments, without the hassle. That’s when the idea for Xtreme Heaters took root.

Working at an electronics design firm, I dove headfirst into creating a heater that could keep the boat safe in the cold without needing constant attention. It sounded simple enough, but that first spark of an idea quickly turned into a long journey of late nights, prototypes, and a lot of trial and error. For over two years, I spent freezing nights out on the dock, braving the cold temps with temperature probes spread all over the boat, trying to get everything just right.

Some of the discoveries were surprising—like how temperatures could vary by as much as 20 degrees within the same engine room, all because of subtle differences in airflow and leaks from fresh air vents. Every time I thought he’d nailed it, a new challenge would pop up, leading to yet another tweak in the design. After six different versions and countless hours testing out in the cold, I finally had a heater I could trust to keep his boat safe through the winter. Those early nights on the dock taught me more than I expected, and that hands-on knowledge still drives Xtreme Heaters to build the best, most reliable products today.

Every bit of knowledge from those cold, late nights has helped us build the best freeze protection solution possible. For over 20 years, we’ve taken customer feedback seriously, using it to continually improve our products. When someone suggested it would be helpful to know when the heater was on, we added an LED indicator. Then we went a step further, making the LED show what the heater was actively doing. We’re problem-solvers by nature, and every piece of customer input is another chance to make our products even better. We upgrade components whenever we find a weakness, and as new technology emerges, we incorporate it to ensure our heaters are always cutting-edge.
