After Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey shore in October 2012, it destroyed my marina where I keep my 28′ Carolina Classic docked. The day before the hurricane, I relocated my boat to a safer private dock up-river and rode the storm out there. Luckily, my boat survived the hurricane just fine but it turned out that I had to remain there after the hurricane until the marina was up and running once again and was able to haul my boat out for the winter.
During this time, it got pretty cold at night, dropping down into the lower 20’s. The last thing that I wanted was to survive Hurricane Sandy, only to end up sustaining freeze damage to my engines or water systems later on because I couldn’t get my boat hauled out of the water.
I went online, did some research and decided to purchase an Xtreme Heater and install it in the engine room. And it couldn’t have worked out better! It kept the engine room significantly warmer during those freezing nights and I was able to remain in the water until after Christmas when my marina was up and running once again and was able to haul out and winterize my boat.
I don’t think I would have been able make it through those couple of months after the hurricane without some type of freeze damage if not for my Xtreme Heater. I highly recommend this product to anyone who fishes/boats in the off-season.
